were injured in a fresh attack by Kuki militants at the forested areas of Ringui village, Ukhrul district at around 10 30 this morning According to reports, the incident of fresh gun firing occurred at 10 30 onward and it lasted for an hour, until the Kuki militants fled from the forest of Ringui village The four injured persons have been identified as Makanmi 35, sustained bullet injury on right chest , M Kashung 42, hit on calf , T Thingshung sustained bullet injury on glutes buttock and H Ngalung hit at the ankle Three serious persons M Ahum, T Thingshung and M Kashung were immediately rushed to Ukhrul district hospital for further treatment Meanwhile the Ringui Village Protection Committee RVPC has strongly condemned the unprovoked attack carried out by the Kuki terrorists operating under the Suspension of Operation SoO pact today at around 10 30 am According to their press statement, the Kuki militants reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons attacked the Naga Village Guards NVG who were keeping watch over the Ringui Horei forest area within the territorial jurisdiction of Ringui Naga village, Ukhrul district, leaving two village guards seriously injured The gun fight which began at around 10 30 am caused widespread panic, fear and distress among the innocent villagers This was not the first time Kuki terrorists launch attacks in the same location The repeated acts of aggression revealed a continuing pattern of hostility and provocation As a result, innocent civilians including women, children and elderly persons, are being compelled to live in constant fear and uncertainty The people remain vulnerable to stray bullets, destruction of homes and properties, forced displacement and the ever present risks to human lives The continued aggressions by Kuki terrorists have the potential to escalate tensions between the Kuki and Naga communities into a much wider conflict, thereby threatening peace, communal harmony, and stability across Manipur, RVPC said In view of the seriousness of the situation, the Ringui Village Protection Committee urgently calls upon the competent authority to ensure that peace and harmony is maintained in Ringui Village and its vicinity The Ringui village stands united in defence of its land, its people, and its right to live in peace and dignity stated the statement issued by the RVPC According to another press statement of NVG, one of its teams who were on routine patrol inspected the forested area at Horei hill within Ringui village jurisdiction, following reports of suspected illegal activities but they came under heavy fire from Kuki narco terrorists The NVG said that four of its members were injured The statement further mentioned that the Kukis have been cultivating poppy for many years in the forested areas under Ringui and Sirarakhong village adjoining Mullam under Ukhrul district, and the area has been serving as a key transit point for narco terrorism operation in the State of Manipur The NVG takes a strong exception to the violent act committed upon the real landowners and narco terror activities being carried out in the Naga ancestral land by the illegal immigrant Kukis , it said The State Government has been waging a war on drug campaign in the hills of Manipur, but the illegal activities still continue in the forested areas adjoining Mullam The State and Central Governments must seriously re strategise and adopt concrete measures to contain the poppy cultivation and put an immediate end to narco terrorism at all cost, it added Tronglaobi media, a group of suspected Kuki militants have been seen raising questions to Assam Rifles personnel at an unknown location Where this video clip was taken and when could not be independently the social media Some of the militants are clearly visiblely armed with rifles with red ribbons on the muzzle Snippets of some things said by the Assam Rifles personnel under pressure include We will speak with high command , You are telling us to fire, but there is no use , We will be pressured by higher ups and Nothing will happen to Kukis, you guys are safe here One of the militants call up somebody he addresses as Sir and after a conversation highlighting their complaints, he hands the phone over to an Assam Rifles personnel Another suspected militant is heard saying in the background We have very good guns Throughout the video, the militants are also heard complaining about Army vehicles allegedly hitting their women and raising suspicion that Assam Rifles are colluding with Arambai Tenggol and Meiteis and entering their boundary from Moreh side The video ends with a light laughter between the two groups, suggesting that perhaps such conversations and meetings are not Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana AB PMJAY has created more problems for dialysis patients Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, one Luxmi, a member of All Manipur Dialysis Patients' Association, said that her father is a dialysis patient She said that the new circular issued by the Government has created more problems and difficulties for dialysis patients, particularly in private hospitals According to the circular, all dialysis patients, after registration, must obtain approval from the Health Directorate After obtaining the approval, biometric data of patients must be captured before and after completion of the dialysis process In some hospitals, biometrics are collected soon after approval from the Health Directorate is obtained However, some other hospitals said that biometrics must be collected only when the patient lies down on a hospital bed, Luxmi told the media, adding that this has created confusion among dialysis patients and their families Moreover, the new circular has compelled dialysis patients to wait for several hours after completion of the dialysis process Generally, the dialysis process takes three to four hours After undergoing the process for such long hours, the patients must again wait for several hours for collection of biometrics, she said Patients who underwent dialysis in the night were compelled to stay in the hospitals till morning thereby creating lots of difficulties to the public, Luxmi said She then appealed to the Government and hospitals to make an alternative arrangement so as to ease the difficulties faced by dialysis patients Meanwhile, on enquiry at the Health Department, it was said that there is no rule or guideline which says biometrics must be collected only when patients lie on hospital beds, Luxmi added BJP states stand on NRC https://e-pao.net/ge.asp?heading=7&src=290426https://e-pao.net/ge.asp?heading=7&src=290426Wed, 29 Apr 2026 01:01:05 GMTThe State unit of BJP has reaffirmed that its stance on updating the National Register of Citizens NRC for Manipur remains unchanged and the party will continue to work to ensure the exercise takes place Addressing the media at Thambal Shanglen today, BJP Manipur general secretary P Premananda Meitei stated that there was nothing inaccurate in the statement made by Chief Minister Y Khemchand regarding the sequence of the implementation of the census and NRC exercise However, he added that the Congress party has been attempting to misrepresent the Chief Minister and the BJP by implying that there is no connection between the NRC and the census Although the census and NRC are separate exercises, they are closely related as both pertain to the National population, he explained He also stated that there is nothing wrong in conducting the census first, removing the wrongful entries, and then updating the NRC and emphasized that neither the Chief Minister nor the BJP has any intention to mislead the public regarding the NRC Premananda further claimed that the Congress party does not want to update the NRC in Manipur, pointing out that the party never held any discussions on the NRC during their tenure In contrast, he said that the BJP, Manipur, passed a resolution supporting the NRC in Manipur during the State Assembly session in 2022, and reaffirmed the same resolution in 2024 Premananda also claimed that all Congress MLAs left the Assembly during the discussion to reaffirm the resolution to update the NRC He reiterated that BJP, Manipur, will take the necessary actions to ensure the NRC is updated in the context of Manipur and that illegal immigrants are deported, although the process may take some time The Congress party has been scheming to keep Manipur in a state of unrest, he charged The NRC must be updated for Manipur, considering the challenges facing the State and its position as a border State, the BJP leader said However, updating the NRC requires certain procedures to be followed, and as such, consultation with stakeholders is necessary, he explained Premananda stated that the Chief Minister's announcement to organise seminars on the NRC is for the welfare of the people and to ensure the success of the exercise Emphasising that updating the NRC cannot be rushed, as there are rules that must be followed, he also stated that the NRC update must be carried out in accordance with Centre's instruction Other BJP leaders also attended the press briefing CM urged to reform governance indefinite hunger strike ongoing which began on April 7 at Malom It was formed on April 25 In the memorandum, Langdai Khangsunaha has called for the arrest and prosecution of militants responsible for the Tronglaobi bomb attack and all similar attacks under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act UAPA , 1967 as terrorism Without prosecution under UAPA, a dangerous precedent remains that such attacks can be treated as mere law and order failures rather than deliberate acts of terror, said Langdai Khangsunaha Calling upon the Chief Minister, Langdai Khangsunaha has demanded the Government to publicly acknowledge that the May 3,2023 attack and subsequent bombings including Tronglaobi are acts of terrorism against civilians aided by foreign forces, not ethnic clashes or law and order problems In this connection, Langdai Khangsunaha has demanded a time bound, independent judicial inquiry to fix responsibility for the Tronglaobi killings As their 4th demand, it has called for deployment of sufficient security forces to protect all vulnerable villages from terrorist attacks The present condition of managed peace has not prevented attacks on civilians Vulnerability is now structured into the landscape restricted movement, movement restricted zones and abandoned villages that remain exposed It also raised a demand for eviction of all illegal encroachments in reserved forests, protected forests, wildlife sanctuaries and wetlands based on satellite and ground survey evidence Langdai Khangsunaha further highlighted the need to conduct a satellite mapping survey for the complete eradication of unlawful poppy cultivation and to arrest and persecute those who finance or protect such cultivation Citing inconsistent rise in number of villages in specific hill districts, it urged the Government to publish the increase in the number of illegal villages since 1951 based on satellite data, including villages settled or recognised fraudulently It also appealed Ukhrul, on Monday claimed that a fresh attempt to target a Kuki village was successfully foiled, barely days after the reported attack on Mulam village According to the statement, credible local inputs on April 28 indicated the presence of suspected Tangkhul militant elements along the Kampa Mol Mount Compass ridge area described as shared cultivated land belonging to Kuki villages including Yaolen Chepu, Mongkot Chepu, Lamlai Chingphei and Mulam Acting on the inputs, Kuki village volunteers reportedly launched a preventive patrol within their own jurisdiction with the legitimate objective of securing their land and ensuring civilian safety amid what they termed as repeated threats and incursions The committee claimed that during the patrol, volunteers encountered armed intruders already inside Kuki village territory, leading to a confrontation and an exchange of fire around 11 10 am The statement raised serious and unavoidable questions over what it described as a contradiction between public narratives and ground realities It alleged that while certain Tangkhul CSO leaders continue to portray themselves as victims in the media, the repeated presence of armed elements within Kuki areas tells a different story Reiterating its stance, the organisation said it remains committed to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, but warned that peace cannot be onesided or sustained under persistent threats While peace remains our preference, the defence of our land, our rights, and our people is non negotiable, the statement added More condemn mob assault conviction As we journey towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047, no dream of a developed and inclusive India can be realised without the full and equal participation of women in our economy , Sayani emphasized She traced postIndependence challenges like low female literacy and limited labour force entry, noting India's steady progress Citing the Periodic Labour Force Survey Annual Report 2025, Monthly data showed the female rate reaching 35 3 in December 2025, up from 34 2 in April 2025 This rise is more than a statistic Through self help groups and entrepreneurship, millions of women are boldly entering the workforce, particularly in rural areas , she added Sayani stressed that female employment boosts household nutrition, education, and health, though gaps persist India's female LFPR remains below the global average of 49 , with women holding just 21 of board seats in major companies, 14 in Parliament, and about 10 across Lok Sabha and State Assemblies combined Economic empowerment is not charity It is smart economics , she asserted, citing World Bank estimates that Indian women contribute only 17 to GDP less than half the global average Closing the gap by bringing Most of women's unpaid work is informal, invisible, and unrecognised , she said, noting how cooking, cleaning, fetching water, and caregiving limit formal participation She flagged persistent wage gaps and called for policies to shift women into formal, high value roles The road ahead is clear We must move from mere presence to genuine influence and raise the female LFPR from 40 and beyond , Sayani said Her recommendations included full implementation of the Women's Reservation Act post delimitation, expanded mentorship, strict equal pay enforcement, investments in creches and workplace safety, and private sector adoption of Women Empowerment Principles Imagine an India where every woman, in a village or city, enjoys equal access to credit, skills, markets, and leadership , she
