Synopsis
Inside a highly guarded hospital prison in Manipur, Irom Sharmila Chanu scribes her notebook while serving her sentence for "attempt to commit suicide".
She is charged for fighting against the 'Armed Forces Special Power's Act 1958' which grants special power to the Indian armed forces to arrest, detain, interrogate or even kill any person on mere suspicion with impunity.
The film highlights the poetic side of this rights activist, who has been on indefinite fast since 2nd November, 2000. Out of the many poems she has written, she narrates "O Desi" mirroring the amalgamation of events happening in Manipur, North-East India.
BORUN THOKCHOM has completed Degree in Mass communication and film production. He is a TV journalist since 2006 and currently working as Bureau, Manipur for a satellite news channel call DY365. His debut film "The Silent Poet" received the BEST documentary in the recent "2nd Siliguri International shorts and Documentary film".
The film has been selected for Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF 2012) in the International competition section which is schedule on 3rd to 9th February 2012.
