Welcome to Little Flower School, Imphal

Manipur "The Land of Jewels" with its large and beautiful central valley, numerous lakes and splendid crown of mountains is without doubt a characteristic country of north eastern part of India.

On the 10th February 1958 the Salesian Sisters, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians set foot in Manipur and took up residence at a little cottage "Nirmalabas" which served as residence and school.. Mother Catherine Mania the then Provincial accompanied Sr. Cecilia Doyle and Sr. Cleofe to this little house. "Home of the Immaculate".

We have a narration of the coming of the Sisters from Fr. Ravalico. When the boys school had begun to function he turned his thoughts to a school for girls of the town and villages, to this end he wrote to Rev. Mother Provincial in Shillong, and the reply was always " Have patience, we shall see later on" But Father Ravalico was not one who could wait with patience.

One day he left for Shillong to meet Mother Provincial. Emphatically he repeated his request and to obtain his point he used a stratagems, there in the presence of the Sisters and School children, he knelt at the feet of Mother Provincial and said "I am not going to move from here until you promise to send the Sisters to Imphal. Kind hearted Mother Provincial was moved by such zeal and humility. Straight away she promised to send the Sisters to Imphal.

But the beginning was not without hurdles again poverty marked the early years. The people stared in wonder as never had they seen Sisters before. But soon they became friends; most notable among them was the Maharaja of Manipur, whose son, the Prince became one of the regular pupils.
