The much awaited release of a Tangkhul Film after a yawning gap ultimately materialised on November 13, 2007.

After more than 15 years of complete blackout of Tangkhul movies owing to limited market and technical know-how inadequacies among other reasons, RR Ama Shom Production finally brought the smiles back on the local population through release of its debut film under the banner which is titled "I Hithaim" (I am like this/It's my style) a comedy film based on funny characters and light moments common among the local population.

The film release function also marked the inauguration of a cinema hall in the heart of Ukhrul Town, Wino-Bazaar.

Ukhrul AC's MLA Danny Shaiza as the chief guest of the premier show at the only auditorium of the district strongly advocated the Tangkhul people to foray into the world of film production as such avenue could not only bring financial gains but is imperative to preserve and showcase identity and culture of the community.

He also donated Rs 10,000 to the proprietor of RR Ama Shom, Qr. Ringmi Ragui who is also the producer cum director of the film.

Talking to the Sangai Express Ringmi stated that he had been dreaming of this day for the last 13 to 15 years when Tangkhul movies came to an abrupt halt compared to churning out more than 50 films prior to the null period.

Ringmi, a veteran film-maker in his own right, also informed that atleast two more movies are in the pipeline and shared the titles of the upcoming films as "Irihavali chong" (To my in-laws) and "Leikashi hi Leikashina" (Love is Loving).

Moreover, the film premier also heralded a new beginning of screening movies after dusk as effective from today, restriction imposed on such recreational activities at night time in Ukhrul by many organisations since the past many years has been relaxed.
