A scene from Yaiskulgee Pakhang Angaoba

Homen D' Wai is just turning out to be one of the best directors in my list; his recent movies are really a fabulous job to watch. My mom just loved the movie, she laughed, she cried and became sad, she emoted with the story of the movie and indeed it was a really decent movie. A full fledged entertainment or should I say a striking comedy "MOLLYWOOD" style.

Full on comedy "YO!" style, hilarious dialogues, the story just perfect, acting really commendable, well edited, catchy songs, casting just right, humorous one liners "DASANIHE!"

I was amazed how this particular word has caught the imagination of the ordinary people in Manipur; even my 4 year old little niece said it with flair at the right time. It is highly recommended for those who are looking for full on entertainment and relax.

Not much to tell story wise, a good student (Bonny) falls in love with a local girl, she rejects him, he became heartbroken and depressed, overcomes it and became a better person. This is to tell the gist of the story.

But it's the acting that is the entertaining factor in the movie. I often complain about the unnecessary subplots in Manipuri movies, but this one is an exception where I enjoyed myself even in those subplots.

The metamorphosis of the protagonist from a simpleton Sanatombi (Bonny) to Yo! Sanatombi is just wonderful and well enacted and excellently executed. Bonny is such a capable actor that he carries forward the story with panache. Majaru (Bala) as the easy going girl does her part convincingly.

Of course one cannot forget Ta Kaboklei Inaocha (Ibomcha) who gave us the memorable "DASANIHE!", he is a supporting actor we should look out for in the future, his comic timing is just excellent and his associates, Sathiba, Tathiba and Kokphai are really fun to watch. They help the hero to change into a whole new avatar of him that even his mother doesn't recognise him.

The scene where the group of friends select cloths from a second hand market is uproariously funny, also look out for the scene where recently metamorphosed Yo! Sanatombi comes to the girl's house to collect his order of seat cover. The restaurant scene where they have to adjust the money is also funny. The whole movie is full of such comic movements where one has no option other than to laugh out loud.

The songs are also really catchy; I have been humming "Nungsi nangbu kaida leige..." since last night. "Yaiskul da pokchaba..." as a song with only guitar is good and of course "Yaiskul gi pakhang Angaoba..." is already a hit song. The music director duo of Aphao and Surmani gave us a very light and melodious tune and the songs will endure the test of time.

Bonny is the real surprise, he sings really well for an actor, he hums and raps well enough to carry the song "Nungsi nangbu kaida leige..." to its present level.

It's a highly recommended film for the cine lover, go for it, you will not be disappointed.
